One good thing about living in Quezon City is that there is always some place to go. Whatever mood you are in, or wishes to be in, there’s certainly a place fit for you.
Take Antiteasis, for example.
My mood at the time I first came to this place was “Wired.” I needed to calm down and take my mind off work. I wouldn’t want to have another cup of coffee as it had kept me awake the nights before my visit here nor would I want a bite to eat since I didn’t want to resort to binge eating due to stress.
This place was spot on. With a huge shelf of books and the cozy feel of pillows set on the floor, this actually took me back to my Elementary days when I would sit on the rug of the children section of the library and read Garfield. I also easily knew that the owner is a fellow dog lover as I looked around. With framed pictures of puppies reading books and pillows that showcase French Bulldogs, ahh..it was home!
After I ordered Iced Pukka Vanilla Chai (♥), I pulled out my current read at that time (Chuck Palahniuk’s Choke) and began getting lost to it. If it wasn’t for my phone asking for a bit of attention, I wouldn’t have noticed that the sun had already set. The place is serene and my fellow customers knew the word “respect”. Although known for Board Games as well, people at Antiteasis would courteously excuse themselves to sit outside and play if they see you wanted to be alone with your paperback. This trait is very rare these days.
Their mini donuts are heavenly and not overpriced and on normal days that you would require a dose of caffeine, I highly suggest that you try their French Pressed Coffee. It’s like fuel to the literature-hungry mind.
Overall, the place is wonderfully comfortable. For the Bibliophiles, this is like our Elysian Field –whether we choose to read their collection, or bring our own weapon of choice, this place would work with our whim.
Antiteasis is located at Unit C, 154 Maginhawa Street, Sikatuna Village, Quezon City. They are open from Tuesdays to Sundays: 1:30 PM to 10:30 PM
