Christmas may not be for all religions or denominations but the season of Warm Cheer is definitely for all. That was what I felt when we visited Baguio Country Club’s Christmas Village.
Located at Country Club road, this tourist spot should serve as one of the highlights of every Baguio visit. It may not seem like it at first glance: being greeted by an endless queue of families with giddy, restless children, immediately seeing the Christmas houses from the outside losing the element of surprise, not to mention the heavy traffic on your way to the village! But once you enter the gates of Christmas Village, it’s literally a whole new, wonderful world!
The dinosaurs, for an instance! There are dinosaurs displayed around the area which you can take photos of. My favorite was the T-rex hanging by the entrance which came to life at the strike of midnight and Twerked like Miley on the stage. He was so adorable!
Another feature which caught my attention was the Write Your Wishes to Santa booth where you will be given a bag tag (provided you are 4 – 12 years of age ONLY) and you can write your Christmas wish and hang it on the wall for everyone to see. I spent around 10 or so minutes reading some of the happiest, funniest, and heartbreaking wishes from kids. One particular bag tag has the word “Daddy” on it and it killed me inside. I sincerely hope that the child who wrote that would get his wish–one way or another.
However the best part of the night was when it snowed! YES! You read it correctly–it snowed! Well, not exactly ice crystals or white flakes but something to that effect…FOAM and BUBBLES! I don’t know about you guys, but I can definitely live with that.
As soon as it started snowing, every single individual went back to their 7-year-old self, for the grown-ups at least. Everybody was happier, chattier, and throwing smiles to each one. It must be the magic of snow! Some were dancing…others were giggling uncontrollably…as for me, I couldn’t stop talking and telling my partner how happy I was. Yeah. I was caught under the spell too!
The snow went on for about 30 minutes then as soon as it ceased, the Disney Princesses and Princes took the stage and rendered an amazing dance number. The show lasted for another 30 minutes then it snowed again!
We were told by the crew that it snows every 30 minutes at Christmas Village. It must be really magical for the children who came to visit. I can now understand why they’re skittish and restless as I definitely can relate now!
I guess the feeling of warmth and good spirit are what the visitors of Christmas Village after. Christmas, after all, is a time for everything familiarly joyful!
